Fiber optics generally refers to the technology that
allows the transmission of voice, video and data through a
glass wire. Fiber optic wire carries much more information
than conventional copper wire and is far less subject to
electromagnetic interference and because of that it is
better suited for video streams and large data transfer
that the more common copper lines.
Transmission on fiber optic wire requires repeating at
distance intervals, and the glass fiber requires more
protection within an outer cable than traditional copper
to keep it from breaking. Still, fiber optics is the best
quality solution for companies considering Voice-over-IP
in the future or offices that will utilize video
conferencing from several locations.
